Selwyns Unbeaten In Table Tennis
Scoring easy wins, Selwyn I and Selwyn II remained unbeaten after the sixth round of the senior inter-club table tennis competition.
The hard-hitting R. J. Sanderson scored a good win for Selwyn I when he defeated R. Orr, of Linwood, and, in a spectacular match, he extended J. Torode. Mrs P. M. Purdon (Selwyn II), having returned to better form since the representative contest against Hutt Valley, again helped her team by winning three singles matches against Dallington. M. A. Cox (Wallabies Red), after winning the first game against J. Armstrong, narrowly lost the second. In the deciding game, Armstrong, with accurate hitting, easily won. D. V. Fisher, after losing to Cox and N. B. Radford, provided an unexpected challenge to R. J. Scott. Results:— Selwyn (I) 11, Linwood 1 V. N. Brightwell beat J. Torode, 21-14, 23-25, 21-7; beat N.
