FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anticyclone covering New Zealand is moving east-north-east as a trough of low pressure near Tasmania moves eastward. Forecast: Canterbury and the Kaikoura Coast.—Moderate north-easterlies on the coast; north-westerlies; becoming fresh in exposed inland areas; fine, with increasing high cloud; moderate to mild temperatures. Outlook, mainly cloudy, with some showers developing later. Buller and Westland.—Light or moderate variable winds; becoming cloudy; some occasional rain likely in South Westland later; cool to moderate temperatures. Outlook: rain. Nelson and Marlborough, except the Kaikoura Coast. —North-westerlies; becoming strong about the Sounds, otherwise light or moderate; fine, with moderate afternoon temperatures.
