Hostel Well Used

A growing number of overseas Youth Hostel Association members are using the hostel at Montgomery Park, Hilltop. Mr D. Lipyeat, chairman of the building and maintenance sub-committee of the North Canterbury branch of the Youth Hostel Association, who visited the hostel with a work party last week-end, said that the hostel register showed that “a significant number of overseas members” were staying at the hostel. The 10 members of the work party spent the weekend painting the roof and outside walls, doing routine maintenance, cutting firewood, and completing extra electrical and plumbing work. More than 140 work hours were registered by the party.
