Governor To Visit Chch. For Month

AUCKLAND, April 10.
It was announced by Government House today that the Governor-General (Sir Bernard Fergusson) and Lady Fergusson will arrive in Christchurch on the morning of Saturday, May 16, to go into residence in the city for about a month.
While in Christchurch they will have a full programme of engagements, and they will also pay official visits to various districts in Canterbury. On May 26 they will pay an official visit to Akaroa. On the way out they will make a brief stop at Little River. On June 3 they will visit centres in Mid-Canterbury, including Darfield, Hororata, and Oxford, and on June 5, they will leave Christchurch for North Canterbury. On this tour they will visit Amberley, Waipara, Waikari and Culverden. They will stay the weekend at Hanmer Springs and on their way back to Christchurch on June 8 they will pay official visits to the boroughs of Rangiora and Kaiapoi. South Canterbury
They will end their residence in Christchurch on June 15. They will then motor to Ashburton to begin a tour of South Canterbury, which will also include Geraldine and Fairlie on June 16, Temuka on June 17, Timaru on June 18, and Waimate on June 19. On June 22 they will pay
an official visit to Oamaru, and will fly to Wellington during the late afternoon. Details of these visits are now being arranged with the mayors and county chairmen concerned.
