VIEWS ON INDONESIA

Press Criticism Of Nixon (N.Z. Press Assn.— Coppright) DJAKARTA, March 31. Several Indonesian newspapers today attacked the former United States VicePresident, Mr Richard Nixon, for anti-Indonesian statements he made in Kuala Lumpur when he visited Malaysia last week. “Berita Indonesia,” said: “Who are the trouble-makers in Asia? Sukarno is not a trouble-maker. American and all other imperialists are the real trouble-makers. “What our President said the other day was really right. He said: ‘lmperialists, go to hell with your aid.* Nixon, Dean Rusk, Lord Home, etc., are the real trouble-makers in Asia. That is why they created Malaysia. Nixon, Rusk, Home, etc. —to hell with your trouble,” the newspaper said. The Moslem Party newspaper, “Duta Masjarakat,” said Mr Nixon should not use the Malaysia issue as a "toy” for political aims in his own country. The newspaper, which is usually conservative in its political views, commented that United States’ prestige had gone down, but would continue to go lower through Mr Nixon’s attitudes. The Nationalist Party newspaper, “Suluh Indonesia” said Mr Nixon’s statements “were not only an insult to the President and people of Indonesia and the Philippines but also an insult to President Johnson.”
