TOWN HALL PROJECT

County Move Regretted

"The Town Hall project should be a truly metropolitan one and the committee regrets the decision of Heathcote county to withdraw,” said the Christchurch City Council town hall committee in a report to the council. It recommended that when the views of other councils were known on the tentative competition programme a deputation should approach any council which had decided not to participate in the project so that it could be discussed. A report from the City Treasurer (Mr L. A. G. Rich) on the financial implications of the town hall project would be considered and submitted to the council probably at its next meeting.
