Situation.. —An intense anti-cyclone centred over the western Tasman Sea is slowly advancing onto central and northern New Zealand; a disturbed south-westerly airstream flows to the south of the country. Forecast: Canterbury.—Moderate variable winds, northeasterlies predominating; fine, with cool night and mild afternoon temperatures; some. frosts in inland places. Outlook: fine. Buller and Westland.—Light to moderate south-westerlies predominating; fine weather, with cool night and moderate day temperatures. Out look: fine.
Marlborough aind Nelson.—Moderate northwest winds about the sounds and moderate southwesterlies at times near Nelson, otherwise light variable winds, fine weather, with cool night and mild afternoon temperatures; some light frosts in sheltered inland- places. Outlook: fine;
