SCHOOLS ATHLETICS Riccarton Boy Breaks Four Records

The Riccarton High School under 14 athletic champion, I. Dalzell, broke four records in his grade when the school’s athltic sports were held. Dalzell excelled in both track and field events and broke the existing 220 , 440. javelin and discus records..

B. Prebble, a senior competitor, was the outstanding sprinter. He set new times in the 100, 220 and 440 yards events. The intermediate champion, C. Baker, also annexed the three sprints and he set new records for the 220 and 440 yards events. One of the most closely contested events was the pole vault. R. Cutler won tn a new record height of Bft 91n but after the event Cutler, R. Todd and W. Martin each cleared Oft lin. Individual champions were:— Senior boys, R. Todd; intermediate, C. Baker; junior, J. Miller; under 14, I. Dalzell. Senior girls, E. Gibson and S. Galloway; intermediate, L. Wilson; junior, J. Peart.
