Sacred Heart

Four records were broken at the Sacred Heart College . athletic sports held at Rugby Park. J. Dougall and J. Ryall both jumped 4ft 4}in to break the senior high jump record of 4ft 3jin, and E. Hughes, in the junior high jump, beat the existing record by 21n with a jump of 4ft sin. The record of 127 ft for the senior cricket ball throw, was also broken by two girls, M. Keehan (156 ft 3in), and J. Fowke (139 ft 21n). The sixth form relay team established a new record of 57sec for the inter-form relay. The winner of the senior championship was D. Andrewes with 24 points. P. Sharp (39 points) was the intermediate champion, and J. Youngman (16 points), the junior champion. C. O’Connell (21 points) gained most points in the senior section of the non-championship events, M. Hodgson (11 points), in the intermediate section, and D. Neame (9 points) in the junior section.
