Turn-round Time

(N.Z. Press Association) HASTINGS, Mar. 17. If the aims of the shipping companies in the quicker turn-round of vessels are realised there could be a saving to New Zealand of about £1 million a year, said Mr C. Hilgendorf, a member of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board, at Tomoana today. Mr Hilgendorf said the board aimed at sending 27,000 tons of meat a month. Last year 20,000 tons were sent in January, 21,000 tons in

February, 53,000 tons in March, and 38,000 tons in April. This irregularity in tonnage was causing concern. The time spent around the New Zealand coast by shipping was costing about £lOOO a day.
