Petrol From Japan

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE, March 17.

Daylube Oil Company is entering the Victorian petrol market following the arrival of its first shipment of gasoline from Japan.

Announcing this yesterday, the principal of Daylube Oil (Mr Basil W. Cocks) said that the petrol would be marketed in Victoria under its own brand name.

Mr Cocks said that the first shipment from Japan was already in the company’s bulk terminals.

Regular shipments were on order for the future. No Ties

He said that Daygas would be the only petrol being marketed in Victoria by a company without any international ties or affiliations.

The petrol itself was from an independent Japanese refinery. He added that at present the petrol would only be available at the company’s own service stations, but other service stations would soon stock the brand. Mr Cocks said that once the product had been established the company planned to build it own service stations, change its name to Boomerang Oil Company, Ltd., and seek public flotation.
