TURPENTINE FROM N.Z.
Sales Abroad Likely (N.Z. Pre** Association) AUCKLAND, March 16. Turpentine from New Zealand radiata pine, distilled at N.Z. Forest Products’ Kinleith pulp mill, is now finding a ready sale in New Zealand and is arousing interest abroad.
Because of certain qaulities of the product it is being sought by British concerns. Firm orders for 60 tons have already been received. The present capacity of the plant is between 300 and 400 tons a year.
A company spokesman said today that the price to be paid by overseas organisations was still being negotiated. A figure of £BO a ton had been quoted from a Wellington source recently, but price was governed by world supply and the quality of the New Zealand product was such that it could command a premium above this.
