HALL TO BE OPENED
7 i Presbyterian t Project “ A gymnasium-size church youth hall, suitable for all games and social activities, will be officially opened by the moderator of the Christchurch Presbytery (the Rev. R. M. Rogers) on Sunday, March 22 in St Mark’s Presbyterian parish. Made of stone block, and built on “battleship lines” on the inside, the hall was at least the size of a full-sized gymnasium, said the minister (the Rev. M Leadbetter). Groups at present using the y hall include Sunday School e and Bible study classes, the t Boys’ Brigade, an indoor 1 bowls group, a Highland a dancing group, and a youth n club. The youth club is not g a Presbyterian club but has :- been using St Mark’s church c hall during the last two years, and has now moved to the il new halt It is hoped that :t the club, which has been d cramped for space in the old y hall, will now be able to it extend its activities consideril ably. it The hall, started five years r ago, had been largely built i- by voluntary labour. It’s value was about £lO,OOO, Mr a Leadbetter said. ir The hall is complete, except i, for furniture which, it is hoped, will be acquired soon.
