STANDARD OF READING

School Principal Critical The standard of reading by a number of pupils coming from primary schools was poor, said the principal of the Lincoln High School (Mr C. M. Harris) at the monthly meeting of the school’s board of governors yesterday. Arrangements had been made for such pupils to receive part-time instruction in remedial reading. It was reported that the school roll was now 440. Tire term of the present foundation board of governors is to expire soon, and arrangements have been made for elections to be held on May 1. The school fair will be held on March 21, and a wide range of farm and other produce will be offered to the public.
