LEVIES ON WOOL
Farmers Want Inquiry
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Feb. 18. The meat and wool section of the Auckland division of Federated Farmers is to find out what legal rights the Wool Board has to fix levies. Some delegates to a meeting of the section in Auckland today said farmers had been “sold down the river” by the Wool Board when it fixed the recent levy for wool promotion.
The section also decided to seek information on the powers of the electoral college of the Meat and Wool Boards. The new levy for wool promotion is 38s 6d made up of 23s 6d from the grower and 15s by the wool commission.
