Support For Gamblers (Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) SYDNEY, February 18 Canterbury Council, in Sydney, has applied for a totalisator agency board agency and hopes to make £40,000 a year from it. The Mayor of Canterbury municipality, Aiderman J. S. Scott, rejecting criticism of th? council’s application, said no council could turn its back on this addition interest-free revenue. Mr Scott urged other councils to join ‘ Canterbury in applying for appointment as T.A.B. agents for their areas. He said: “If there is any moral issue involved, surely it is whether such a large sum should go to a few individuals or to a council for the benefit of those who placed the bets.”
