CULPRITS AT DANCES
Those Kept Out (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Feb. 16. Trouble makers at Bible class dances were not the ones who were allowed in but those who were kept out, according to Archdeacon L. O’S. Beere, whose church, St. Aidan’s, Remuera, conducts dances. Commenting on a report earlier in the week to the Auckland Presbytery, the Archdeacon said his Bible class dances were restricted to young people who were known to the organisers. Others passing tried to get in when they heard music but were told the dance was a private one. But they did not go away; instead they parked cars in a side street and shouted and sounded horns all night. Often these youths were still in the street at 1.30 a.m. —two hours after dances ended, and when they left there were “dead marines’’ to be seen. Police had moved in but the youths drove around the block and returned. Another vicar, the Rev. K. R. R. Small, said firmness was required with louts who tried to crash in Bible class dances.
