BRABHAM WINS BY FRACTION

McLaren Second At Warwick Farm (N.Z. Press Assn.-Copyright) SYDNEY, February 16. Australia’s Jack Brabham, driving a Repco-Brabham. today won the International 100 motor race at Warwick Farm, near Sydney. A crowd of 25,000 saw Brabham beat New Zealand’s Bruce McLaren by only 0.4 seconds, with Tim Mayer 1.4 seconds away third. Brabham, who led nearly all the way, averaged 82.32 miles an hour, finishing in lhr 13min 45.1 sec. Graham Hill drove a consistent race in a "borrowed” Repco-Brabham to finish fourth.

Dennis Hulme, of New Zealand, stalled at the start and was twelfth at the end of the first lap, but drove furiously to finish fifth. McLaren recorded the fastest lap with a time of Imin 374 sec, for an average speed of 83.16 miles an hour. The latest tally for the Tasman championships after today’s race, with two races in Australia to come is: McLaren 33 points. Brabham 24. Hulme 23. Mayer 23. John Youl 13, Jim Palmer 9. Stillwell 7, Tony Shelley 6, Hill 3.
