TRIAL OF RUBY
Search For Jurors (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) DALLAS, February 17. Questioning of potential jurors will begin today at the start of the trial, of Jack Ruby on a charge of murdering Lee Harvey Oswald, the suspected assassin of President Kennedy. In an attempt to find an impartial jury, 900 citizens of Dallas County have been called to the courthouse overlooking the plaza where the President was shot by a sniper on November 22. From the 900 an initial group of 125 will be chosen to report to Judge Joe B. Brown. They will then be intensively questioned by both defence and prosecution lawyers to find out if they are prejudiced against Ruby or opposed to the death penalty. The defence, which claims that 12 impartial jurors cannot be found in Dallas, has promised that the questioning will be intense and personal.
Crew Saved.— The 12-man crew of the 78-ton islands vessel, Kavieng Trader, was rescued late last night 19 hours after their ship sank in the Solomon sea.—(Rabaul, February 17.)
