Situation.—A ridge of high pressure covers New Zealand; a trough of low pressure to the west of the South Island is moving eastwards. Forecast: Canterbury.—Moderate to fresh Winds from a northerly quarter; cloudy in coastal areas at first this morning, with some showers in the alps; otherwise partly cloudy and warm. Outlook: partly cloudy, with isolated showers. Buller and Westland.—Moderate to . fresh northerlies backing to westerly during the day; overcast and mild, with occasional rain at first but a partial clearance from the south-west later. Outlodk: partly cloudy, with isolated showers. Marlborough and Nelson.—North-westerly winds, mainly moderate but fresh at times about the Marlborough Sounds; partly cloudy and mild, with isolated showers about the ranges this afternoon.
