Fine Catch Ends Game A Christchurch Suburban Association team beat South Canterbury by three runs ait Christchurch yesterday. The last South Canterbury batsman, M. Jack, waa caught by P. Daly at cover from a stroke that might have scored the winning rune. suburban, hotting first, lost M. Clark in the first over. No fewer than eight batsmen got into double figures, only to lose their wicketa when appearing to be getting on top of the steady and accurate attack. The last three wicketa added 70 runs. South. Canterbury's innings started and practically ended with B. Shewan, who scored 90 and was bowled by Adams with a ball that never left the ground. His valuable Innings included 10 boundaries and the score was '29 when he was out. Jack and E. Smith then looked like getting the required runs, until Jack was dismissed by Daly’s fine catch. South Canterbury 128 for nine declared (Hartley 36, Clarke 26, Lynch 24; Brown four for 30) and 60 for three (Cosgrove 29, Lynch 22) beat Suburban 92 (Church 25; Cosgrove three for 37) and 95 for nine declared (Brown 3; Cosgrove three for 14, Lynch three for 14) outright).
