Soviet Farm Targets
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) MOSCOW, Feb. 16. The Central Committee of the Soviet Communist Party today called for the speediest increase of the output of farm products in the Soviet Union, particularly of grain, meat and milk. A resolution set farmers the task of increasing grain output by more than 80 million tons to more than 230 million tons by 1970. The resolution said increased grain production “is the basis of the development of agriculture as a whole." The resolution said there must be a “sharp advance” in animal husbandry. Targets for 1970 are more than 20 million tons of meat and more than 115 million tons Of milk. The meeting agreed that “material incentives are a highly important condition for raising agricultural production.”
