Rise Shown By N.Z. Lamb (N(Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 14. The market information service of the New Zealand Meat Producers Board reports that quotations for New Zealand lamb at Smithfield market, London, rose' sharply this week. There was an increase of Id per lb for the main grades and lid for the lighter weights. There was a firm market for most commodities on Smithfield, largely because of lighter beef supplies from South America. There were reduced offerings ot homekilled lamb. There were very light supplies of New Zealand mutton at mainly nominal quotations. Hoggets were at 16d to 19Jd per lb, wethers 12d to 17d per lb, and ewes.HJd to Is per lb. Press Association) DUNEDIN, Feb. 14. The total Otago wood cheque for last month’s twoday Dunedin wool sale was £3,874,798. Average price a bale was £Bl 14s lid and the average price per lb was 59.66 d. A total of 47,401 bales were sold. There were only nine passings. The assistant secretary of the Dunedin Woolbrokers' Association (Mr A. Ellis), said no comparative figures were . possible, as last month’s sale had been the first to have been held in January for many years. The December sales in other years had only been one-day fixtures.

Multi-Listing Bureau Listings by members of the Multiple Listing Bureau of Christchurch were unusually high in January, considering the holiday period, according to the bureau’s latest newsletter. Listings for the month totalled 120 while sales at 41 or 34.16 per cent were at a very satisfactory level. In the 10 months to January 31 listings were 239 higher at 1254, compared with the same period last year. Sales made during the current period totalled 494 or 39.4 per cent of listings, against 418 sales or 41.2 per cent last year. Sales for the latest period were valued at more than £l.6m, averaging £3466 a sale, compared with nearly £l.4m last year averaging £3256 a sale. The best listing agency sale was £4900 for a house in Office road, and the best sale in conjunction was £6400 for a house in Grahams road.
