Figures For January (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 14. The Reserve Bank today released statistics of the operations of the five approved dealers in the short term money market, for January, December figures being shown in parenthesis. Aggregate deposits at January 31 were £ 24.9 m (£ 24.6 m) and were derived from local bodies £o.3m (£ 0.4 m). financial institutions £4.Bm (£4.3m), industrial and commercial firms £ 17.0 m (£ 17.1 m), and others £2.Bm (£2.Bm). Rates of interest paid on new call deposits ranged between 1 per cent and 3U per cent (2 per cent—-31 per cent) while rates for money repayable in six months ranged from 3} per cent to 3%per cent (41 per cent—--5% per cent). New deposits accepted by dealers during this month totalled £B.3m (£9.9m), while repayments were £B.om (£B.Bm). The maximum amount of deposits which the approved dealers were authorised to accept at January 31, 1964, was £ 25.6 m.
