PRESUMED LOST
Crew Of Yacht Siga Wale (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Feb. 14. .Two men. and a youth who left Fiji for New Zealand in a 32ft yacht late last year have been given up as lost. A senior police officer said in Auckland today that it now appeared there would be no chance of finding any of the three alive. After air and sea searches it is presumed that, they have been lost at sea. On board the yacht were:— William James Alfred Ewins, aged 61, married, an engineer, of Suva. He was the skipper-owner. Robert Ewins, son of Mr Ewins, aged 22, a marine engineer, of - Suva. John Caine, aged 16, a student, a nephew of Mr Ewins. They were. , last seen leaving Kandavu island on November 18. Since that time their yacht, the Siga Wale, has not been sighted. There was a tropical storm in the area between November 20 and 25. The crew carried enough food for 40 days and enough water for a month. The mullet boat carried a radio receiver, but no trans-, mitting gear.
