Youths Rescued At Greymouth

(N.Z. Press Association) GREYMOUTH. Feb. 11. Two youths swept 300 yards out to sea by a treacherous rip at Karoro beach, Greymouth, tonight were rescued by members of the Kotuku Life-saving Club. The first surf club member to reach the youths was on a paddle board. The tired swimmers rested on the board and then transferred to a surf ski, which arrived shortly afterwards. The man with the belt arrived to bring in one of the youths with the help of the linesman and another on the reel. The rip was too strong to bring the other youth and his rescuer on the ski to shore and the belt man had to make a return trip through the rough surf to fetch them.
