CONTROL BY U.E. BOX

Christchurch Company The Uiiited Empire Box Company, Ltd., has gained control of another Christchurch company—Maples Containers, Ltd., of Blenheim road, makers of wooden cases and corrugated containers. His organisation had gained control of Maples Containers by taking over shares formerly held by N.Z. Forests Products, a U.E. Box spokesman said in Auckland late yesterday afternoon. This had happened “some time ago,” he said. However, he would make no further comment.

Earlier in the afternoon, the manager of Maples Containers (Mr P. F. Maples) would not comment on suggestions that U.E. Box had taken over the company. Maples Containers was formerly the Pinus Lumber and Sawmilling Company, Ltd.
