AGAINST BEEF SUBSIDIES
Cattlemen Want Less Imports (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, January 24. Three American journalists said in Auckland today that their cattlemen were seeking restrictions in New Zealand beef imports only to prevent internal subsidies. Mr E. A. Briles, a publisher from Kansas, said imports of New Zealand beef were depressing domestic prices. This was causing concern to cattlemen and while they did not want subsidies any further drop in prices would result in some drastic action to enable them to maintain their present standard of living.
