Second Place To Lyttelton
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, January 17. R. Cooney, skipper of the Z Class Scamper from Tauranga, won the New Zealand monotype yachting championship in a heavy north-west-erly at the Muritai Yacht Club today. With some masterly off the wind sailing on the last leg, Cooney pushed his boat past W. Parratt’s Frith from Lyttelton to cross the line about five seconds in front. Result: B. Cooney (Scamper.
