Ankle Crushed By Falling Horse "The Press" Special Service DUNEDIN, Jan. 14. P. J. Denton, who is attached to J. S. McKay’s stable at North Taieri, is recovering from a freak accident. It will be some time -before he will be able to ride again. Denton suffered a broken right ankle when Lostalon fell in the Gladstone Hurdles on the second day of the Southland Racing Club’s meeting. Denton was riding Kelton when his foot was crushed by the falling Lostalon at the first hurdle. Denton was in considerable pain and had trouble in pulling his mount up. Both Lostalon and Kelton are members of McKay’s team. Rider’s Appeal Succeeds (N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) WAGGA (New South Wales), January 14. The Southern Districts Racing Association committee yesterday upheld an appeal by a Canberra jockey, Ted Doon. Doon was disqualified for a year by stewards after an inquiry into the running of Blazewood in the Improvers’ Handicap at Tumut on December 27. The committee gave Doon the benefit of the doubt.
