SOCIALISTS IN ITALY
New Splinter Group (N.Z.P ui .-Reuter—Copyright? ROME, January 12. The Italian Socialist Party today formally split for the third time in 17 years when a number of Leift-wing rebels formed their own splinter group. The new party the eleventh represented in Parliament—is the Italian Socialist Party of Proletarian Unity. Political experts estimate its following at 15 per cent of Socialist Party members. A conference of 700 Leftwing Socialists today unanimously approved a motion establishing the new party in protest against Mr Pietro Nenni’s action in leading the Socialist Party into a CentreLeft coalition government The coalition, led by Mr Aldo Moro, a Christian Democrat with Mr Nenni as Deputy Prime Minister, easily won confidence votes in the Chamber of Deputies and Senate last month.
