DEEP COVE FIRST AID
Ambulance To Be Sent
(N.Z. Press Anoeiatlon) INVERCARGILL, Dec. 27
A two-stretcher ambulance will be shipped to Deep Cove on the Onehunga, probably on January 6. It will be used by the tailrace tunnel contractors, Utah-Williamson-Burnett, in case of accident* on the job. The ambulance, a 1963 model, was assembled in Auckland and arrived in Invercargill early this week. There is room in the ambulance for two stretcher and one sitting case. The ambulance will be situated at a central position at Deep Cove, probably beside a fully-equipped first-aid post. The post will be in radio communication with all construction points on the job.
The floating hostel for the construction workers, the Wanganella, has hospital facilities and a doctor. Eighty-odd men returned to work at Deep Cove today after Christmas spent aboard the hostel ship, W’anganella, moored in Deep Cove
