Mr Jacob J. Shubert, 83, the last of the three brothers who founded a theatrical empire which lasted more than 60 years, died yesterday

Mr Shubert, known as “the man who produced a thousand shows,” was a business partner of his late brother, Mr Lee Shubert, who died on Christmas Day, 1953. and Mr Sam Shubert. Together they owned 16 theatres in New York and other cities.
