The R. M. Ansett air race' from Brisbane to Adelaide, : to be held over the Easter week-end next year, will be the first big air race in Australia since World War 11. Mr R. M. Ansett. winner of the handicap section of | the 1936 Brisbane-Adelaide air race, is sponsoring the| event, which will have prizesl and trophies worth £5600. The race will be a three-j day event The aircraft will i leave Archerfield airfield., near Brisbane, on Easter Saturday. March 28. and fly to Paratield airfield, near Adelaide. by way of Bankstown i 'Sydney), Moorabbin (Mel-j bourne'. and intermediate country airfields. Overnight stops will be at Bankstown and Moorabbin. Mr Ansett said the Austral-1 lan Department of Civil Avia-! tor. and the Royal Austral-! ian Federation of Aero Clubs supported the event. ‘’The race will help to illustrate tne rapid development of the Australian aviation industry, particularly in the light aircraft field.” Mr Ansett j said “Young pilots will have the! chance to win prize money 1 to help to further their car- | »ers. and light-aircraft manufacturers and distributors. will be able to demonstra e; the ability of modern light 1 planes
