Martiniquans Gaoled In Paris

A Paris court today gaoled five Martiniquans for periods ranging from 18 months to three years for their part in a subversive organisation seeking independence for the West Indian island, which is a French overseas department.

The Court acquitted another 13 accused. All were charged with endangering the integrity of national territory. Three of the five convicted were gaoled for three years. They were Henri Armougon. a Customs official, Herve Florent, a lawyer, and Felix Lamotte, a law student.
