Many overseas tourists were among the passengers on the first bus tour to the Southern Lakes area to be run by Newmans Coach Tours, Ltd., which left Christchurch on Tuesday. An 11-day tour, it was almost fully booked.

Un unusual feature of the tour is that it includes the southern part of the Haast Pass road, as far as it is possible to go. Other points of interest are Mount Cook. Cromwell. Queenstown, Lake Te Anau. Milford Sound. Invercargill and Dunedin. Lakes Hawea. Wanaka and Manapouri are also visited.
