WORLD CRUISE PLANNED
Preparation Of Timaru Yacht | (From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU. November 20. | Mr and Mrs Nils Powell, accompanied by Mr P. Atkinson, will leave Timaru in about a fortnight in a 25ft ocean-going yacht, Kotimu. Mr Powell,' a radio inspector, and his wife, a shop assistant, plan to circumnavigate the globe. The trip will probably take five years. Mr and Mrs Powell have nothing definite in mind as to ‘ the route. England is included in the itinerary, but it I may be about 18 months bei fore they drop anchor there, i The yacht, which has a I beam of 7ft 2in, carries a j maximum sail of 400 square : feet. She was built in Timaru I and launched a few weeks ago. Since then, the Kotimu has sailed along the Canterbury coast on a shakedown cruise. Provisioning for the voyage is well in hand.
