Tennis WEEK-END TOURNEY
Davidsons Top Seeds Entries for the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association’s Show tournament are better than those for the Labour week-end tournament. The tournament will begin at Wilding Park tomorrow and continue on Saturday and Sunday if necessary with 20 in the men’s singles and 10 in the women's singles. Last year’s singles winners, G. A. Davidson and Miss J. Davidson, the province’s topranked players, have been seeded first. Davidson’s partner in the double- is his University club-mate, P. S. Alexander, ranked equal top in Canterbury at the end of last season. But Alexander has not entered for the singles. However, it is hoped he may yet be in the field. Second in the men’s singles is B. Baxter who won the Labour week-end singles. Miss D. Smith, Canterbury’s leading junior last season, is seeded second woman. The seedings are:— Men’s Singles.—G. A. Davidson 1, B. Baxter 2. R. McCutcheon 3. B. Aldridge 4. Women’s Singles.—Miss J Davidson 1, Miss □. Smith 2. Miss S. Rich 3. Mrs E. Campbell 4. Men's Doubles.—Davidson and P. S. Alexander 1, McCutcheon and J. Martin 2, W.
