Strathmore And Stratheden I The liners Stratheden and Strathmore have been sold to Mr J. S. Latsis, of Athens, the former owners, the P. and O. Steam Navigation Company, have announced. \ Delivery will be made in ; Piraeus, the Strathmore this i month and the Stratheden in • February. Mr Latsis intends to use the vessels for most of the year as hotel ships in the Mediterranean, and during the rest of the year they will be used on Mediterranean I passenger services. i The Strathmore (23.580 | tons) and Stratheden <23,732 1 tons) were both built by i Vickers- Armstrongs (Shipbuilders), Ltd., Barrow-in-Furness, the former in 1935 '. and the latter in 1937. They were used during World War ■ II as troop ships. After the war they were > used on the P. and O. line’s | Australian service, and during the summer months, cari ried out a series of Mediterranean cruises for British tourists. More recently they were used to carry migrants to Australia.
