Anti-Treason Decree
(NJB. Press A»sn.—Cos>yTight) NEW YORK. Oct. 23. The President of Indonesia (Dr. Soekarno) has signed a sweeping decree designed to wipe out subversive activities. The decree, effective from October 16 but not irr>W i -=ihe r ' until yesterday, carries • possible deatn for pereons found guilty of distorting, deviating or undermining the ideology and policy of the State; overthrowing, damaging or undermining the authority of the State Government; creating unrest, chaos, and feeling of enmity among the Indonesian poouilation or between the Indonesian Government and friendly nations; disturbing and causing disorders in industrial production and the distribution of goods.
