Christmas Shopping

Sir,—May I make a suggestion which I think would ease the congestion in the city during the last few shopping days at Christmas. During the last two weeks could not the shops in certain areas heve separate late nights; ie„ Monday, perhaps the Papanui area; Tuesday Riccarion; Wednesday, Sydenham; Thursday, Wairakei Other suburban areas could also choose one of these nights to suit and leave Friday night to the city area and Saturday to New Brighton. This would give all shop assistant more time for their personal shopping and would enable married couples to choose major items together As well, it would help the suburban shop-owner and tend to improve shopping facilities in these areas Yours, etc..
