RESULTS OF HIGHLAND DANCING COMPETITIONS

The results of the annual Highland dancing competitions held in Christchurch by the North Canterbury and West Coast Centre of the Piping and Dancing Association have been announced. The judges were Miss Josephine Pickens, of Greymouth, and Mrs Colleen Cole, of Christchurch. Championship results were:— New Zealand Championship.— Gillie Callum, open: Rhondda Webb.

South Island Championships.— Irish reel, under IB: Heather Dawson. Seann triubiiais, under 16: Rosemary Armstrong. Provincial Championships. Sailor’s hornpipe, open: Brian North. Sailor’s hornpipe, 14 and under 16: Lynette Jarman. Irish jig: 12 and under 14: Rosemary Armstrong. Gillie Callum, 10 and under 12: Sharon Smith. Highland fling, under 10: Dianne McMillan.
