STATE AID MOVE

Presbyterians Not Associated (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 20. The Presbyterian Church denied any association with a recent report concerning State aid for' private schools, said Mr H. W. Shove, general secretary of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, last week. Hoe report, published in several newspapers said “representatives of Anglican. Presbyterian, Catholic, and other interested churches have made submissions to the Government on State add for private schools.” The deputation had no mandate from the Presbyterian Church, Mr Shove said. He added that letters had been sent to the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition making it clear that the question Of State aid was a matter of policy that would come up at the general assembly of the church when it met in Christchurch.
