2 Champions Beaten (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Oct. 10. Two reigning champions. N. Cullitag (Otago) and I. B. Roberts (Canterbury) lost a life when the New Zealand amateur wrestling championships began ait Lower Hutt today. Culling was beaten by the Empire Games welter-weight representative. B. Courtney (Auckland), and Roberts was outpointed by J. Stanley (Southland), who gained the decision in the last minute with three points from a cross-but-tock throw.

The holder of the bantamweight Utle, K. Scott, of Wairarapa, was forced to withdraw when it was discovered at the weigh-in that he was 21b over the regulation Frantic effort* for an hour and a half by the Wairarapa camp to reduce Scott’s weight and allow him to defend Tils title failed by So* at the final weigh-in. Results:— Fly-weight.—M. Te Pau (Wairarapa) drew with J. Mudgeway (Central Districts); R. Astrella (Waikato) beat P. Masettl (Otago), by a fall; G. Hensen (Auckland) beat G.
