CONDUCT OF MEETINGS

No Action On Petition (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 10. The chairman of the Public Petitions Committee (Mr J. H. George) reported to the House of Representatives today that the committee had no recommendation to make on the petition of Doris I. Dobson, of Fairlie, who had petitioned for a standard procedure for the conduct of sports bodies and women’s organisations. Mr George said that the Incorporated Societies Act provided a standard set of rules for the conduct of business if bodies wished to adopt them. To impose rules, he said, would be considered undesirable regimentation, “They should make their own rules under the good old method of deciding by a democratic majority of the members of the organisation,” said Mr George. The House accepted the recommendation.
