NJE. Teacher Married In Canada.— Miss Betty (Anne) Boleyn, formerly of Okains Bay, who has been teaching in Canada for some years and revisited New Zealand in 1960, was married in Hamilton, Ontario, last month. Her husband is Mr Frank Merestron. a Cornell graduate in chemical engineering, now stationed at Niagara Falls, New York. Their home is at Hamilton.
Early Canterbury.—A talk on early Canterbury and Ferrymead, illustrated by slides, was given by Mr W. J. A. Brittenden at an evening function held by the Canterbury Women’s Club. Mrs R. H. Sherris was the hostess. Songs were sung by Mrs Patricia Aldersley. accompanied by Mrs W. E. Olds. The guest speaker and artists were thanked by the club’s president, Mrs L. P. Bennett.
Women’s Day Services. The annual Women's Day services held in the Linwood Methodist Church on Sunday were well attended. The morning service was conducted by Sister N. Burgess, and the evening service by Mrs M. Inwood. Soloists were Mesdames L. Price and M. Young. Anthems were sung by the women's choir, conducted by Mr G. Thorpe. The organist was Mrs S. Hodgson.
Belfast Garden Club.—The following officers were elected ait tihe fifteenth annual meeting of the Belfast Garden Club:—Patroness, Mrs A. J. Smith; president. Mrs A. Huntington; viee-presi-denits, Mesdames B. Johns, R. Sewell and Messrs J. Robinson and W. Brown; secretary, Mrs L. Wright; committee, Mesdames R. Smail, E. Crundwell, R. Brown. R. McFadden, R. Don, I. Mclntyre and Messrs A. Huntington and A. Rogers; sales table, Mr A. Rogers; librarian, Mr A. Huntington.
