ECONOMY OF GUIANA
Soviet Offer Of Help
(N.Zjr.A.-Reuter—Copyright) NEW YORK, September 11. The Soviet Union has announced an offer of “ample” economic aid to British Guiana to break "the imperialists’ blockade” against the regime of the country's premier, Dr. Cheddi Jagan, according to the “New York Times.” A Moscow Radio broadcast in Spanish to South America last Friday said the Soviet Ministry of Foreign Trade had offered to sell British Guiana agricultural chemicals at half price, and to supply a long-term loan for agricultural equipment. In New York last night, an aide to Dr. Jagan said negotiations were pending between a Soviet trade organisation and the British Guiana Rice Marketing Board for the purchase of nearly 600.000 dollars worth of Soviet fertiliser.
