WILDING PARK

Fuller Use Thought Essential "We would be the richest association ever to be wound up if something is not dona to Wilding Park,” said Mr R. B. Brown at the annual meeting of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association last evening. Mr Brown said that the expenses connected with the mainte.iance of Wilding Park were a considerable drain on the association's finances. He said that Wilding Park could be made a social centre with tennis as its main game. “We must change with the times and put a social atmosphere back into tennis ” He suggested that squash rackets courts and a swimming pool could be built at Wilding Park. Mr R. Murphy said that the last time the association made a profit was in 1956. Affiliation fees had not altered much since 1955, but the association’s expenditure had and mopt of it could be attributed to the upkeep of Wilding Park. "Far more use should be made of Wilding Park. If necessary we could share it with other sports,” he said.
