Loss Of £1623 Last Year The alarming decrease In membership wa* the most disturbing feature of the past seafcon, said Mr A. C Felton presenting the annual report to the annual meeting of delegates of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association last evening.

The report showed that membership had dropped by 575 since 1962 and 777 since 1959 The total membership in 1963 was 6526 In 1962 it was 6101

“It is up to the clubs to stop this decline—the association can only be as strong as its clubs. Club committee* shou’d try every means of increasing membership.” he said.

The treasurer (Mr S. W. Bullen) said that the association was loosing money at the rate of £lOOO a year.

The expense* for Wilding Park worked out at £3OOO a year. and the income from tennis was not sufficient to keep the park in proper condition. Discussing the loss of £1623 last year. Mr Bullen said that large losses had been incurred ion several tournaments which had received poor support.
