Fishery Patrol Plans

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. August 25. The Royal New Zealand Navy plans to increase the size of its fishery protection squadron. The squadron at present has three 72ft motor launches. A fourth will be added this year and two more probably next year. The primary purpose of the squadron is to assist the Marine Department by patrolling fishing grounds. Most of this work is done in the Hauaraki Gulf, but the launches have made patrols as far south as the Bluff oyster beds and the southern sounds crayfish area.
